PORTAL measures the EC (Electrical Conductivity) and temperature of flowing coffee in real time.
Q. What is EC?
EC stands for Electrical Conductivity. The more dissolved substances in a liquid, the better it conducts electricity. PORTAL uses this property to estimate changes in coffee concentration in real time.
EC and TDS are not the same concept. However, since EC and TDS maintain a consistent ratio in most coffees, the EC log closely reflects the overall concentration pattern throughout the extraction.
